about

Twinkle³ is the trio comprised of Richard Scott, David Ross, and Clive Bell. 'I Rode A Tiger But Dared Not Dismount' offers a live show from 2017, recorded at The York Tavern in Norwich, UK. Ross’s percussion is a special feature this time out, helping to create a spontaneous sense of flow and momentum rather different from the elaborate constructions of the group’s recorded output.

In terms of studio recordings, in 2020 Twinkle³ completed their cosmos-themed electroacoustic trilogy with 'Minor Planets' on the Marionette label. 'Let’s Make A Solar System' (ini itu, 2009) introduced a collage-based studio method; working in complex ways with the group's sonorities. In contrast, their second album 'Debris In Lower Earth Orbit' (Cusp Editions, 2015), was recorded in a single session and gravitated more towards the spontaneity of their experimental improvisations.

Twinkle³’s shared love towards music from Lee Perry to Noh theatre, via Karlheinz Stockhausen and King Sunny Ade, leads them into a singular musical universe in which all their various influences can coexist and interact.

“I rode a tiger but dared not dismount/
And soared with a dragon that suddenly fell out of the sky."

Li Bai, T'ang dynasty poet, 701-762 AD.
